Chad is a professional engineer with over 27 years' experience in the Energy sector and is founder and principal consultant of Angler Solutions Inc. and is responsible for charting the course of the company forward in support of the Energy Transition.
Chad is currently executing projects related to emissions reductions in the energy sector including offshore electrification, onshore/offshore renewables, blue and green hydrogen, carbon capture & storage (CCS), marine decarbonization, digitalization and ocean technology. Chad has worked in various capacities both locally and internationally, providing technical and project management expertise in the areas of subsea/offshore construction, concept field development and selection, feasibility assessments, front end engineering design and detailed analysis. Chad was a co-founding principal & director of Frontier Subsea Inc. and has held senior consulting positions with local Oil & Gas operators and associated research entities involved in developing and evaluating full field development concepts in support of the strategic monetization of Oil & Gas resources on the East Coast of Canada and Frontier/Arctic regions.
Chad has a wide variety of project exposure ranging from small grass roots to multibillion-dollar offshore Oil & Gas developments with specialist expertise in R&D, technological innovation, techno-economic analysis, stakeholder engagement, and a broad range of skillsets in support of early phase project framing and development. Chad’s previous and current positions have led to extensive interaction with industry, R&D funding institutions, government agencies, regulatory & certifying authorities, Tier 1 contractors and academia through direct management of R&D technology initiatives and participation in R&D joint industry projects (JIP’s). Pamela is a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with over 25 years’ experience in the Energy industry and is the Operations Manager of Angler Solutions. Pamela has worked in various capacities providing technical and project management expertise in the areas of subsea and offshore construction, feasibility assessments, front end engineering design, and inspection, repair, and maintenance (IRM) scopes. Pamela has a wide variety of project exposure ranging from small studies for engineering support services to design and commissioning for multibillion-dollar offshore Oil and Gas developments. Pamela also has experience in tender and proposal preparation and ISO 9001:2015 quality auditing.
Pamela recently executed projects related to the development of a local Subsea Centre of Excellence and for almost two decades she held various positions with Oil & Gas operators involved in design, fabrication, installation, commissioning, inspection, and maintenance for subsea projects both locally and internationally. Pamela also worked with an international marine shipping company as a field service engineer where she gained commissioning and maintenance experience for instrumentation and control projects. These positions also provided significant field experience both onshore at fabricators and mobilization sites, and offshore on construction vessels, dive support vessels, anchor handling vessels, and offshore production facilities. Pamela has integrated engineering, quality, and management skills to make significant contributions in multiple lead and management roles in the Energy industry. Pamela holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree (1999) in Ocean and Naval Architectural Engineering from Memorial University and is a registered professional engineer with PEGNL (Professional Engineers & Geoscientists Newfoundland and Labrador).
Chad LaFitte is a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) and Project Management Professional (PMP) with over a decade of experience delivering innovative solutions for large-scale energy projects. As Manager of Innovation & Opportunities at Angler Solutions, he leads project proposals, forms strategic partnerships, manages active consulting projects, and drives the development of MESO (Model for Energy Systems Optimization), Angler's proprietary software tool.
Previously, Chad held senior roles at Cenovus and Husky Energy, where he conducted petroleum engineering evaluations and contributed to decarbonization initiatives such as "Pathways to Net Zero" in Western Canada. His expertise in project management, uncertainty analysis, and techno-economic modeling has been pivotal in conceptualizing and optimizing offshore and onshore energy developments.
Chad holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering and a Master of Engineering in Oil & Gas from Memorial University and is a Qualified Reserves Evaluator (QRE) under Canadian National Instrument 51-101.
Bill Donovan brings over 25 years of diverse financial and project management experience to his role as Senior Manager, Strategy & Growth at Angler Solutions Inc. His professional journey includes significant roles at Kraken Robotic Systems Inc. as Vice President and earlier as Senior Program Manager, where he notably led the $20M OceanVision R&D project in collaboration with industry, government, and academic partners. Prior to that, Bill honed his skills in strategic project management and financial oversight at the Research and Development Corporation and the Business Development Bank of Canada. His expertise encompasses strategic planning, problem-solving, proposal writing, and building robust partnerships across various industries including offshore oil and gas, energy, and fisheries. Bill holds a Business Administration diploma with Honours from the College of the North Atlantic, and he maintains a strong commitment to the local community through several volunteer roles in local sports and community organizations.
Peter is Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) with 15 years of experience providing expertise in techno-economic modelling of wind energy and energy storage technologies, decarbonization, renewable energy generations, distribution and transmission network assessment, energy systems optimization, computational fluid dynamics simulation and analysis, product design and manufacturing, and project management. Peter earned his Ph.D. degree (2021) in Mechanical Engineering from Memorial University of Newfoundland and holds a master’s degree (2015) in Renewable Energy from Newcastle University, United Kingdom. Peter has engaged in several research and development projects involving renewable energy development, energy transition, energy systems optimization, and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modelling.
Throughout his career, Peter has made significant contributions to the energy industry. He played a vital role in developing a viable clean energy management product. His work in techno-economic modeling has aided the integration of wind energy and energy storage technologies, leading to more efficient and cost-effective ways of optimizing renewable energy systems. Peter has also implemented decarbonization initiatives, resulting in the quantification and capture of carbon emissions. His involvement in distribution and transmission network assessments has led to improved grid connection processes. Additionally, his Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations have provided valuable insights for product design and manufacturing, driving innovation in the clean energy industry. Peter is currently registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with the Professional Engineers and Geoscientists Newfoundland & Labrador (PEGNL).
Pranav is a Senior Software Developer with 6 years of experience in full stack web application development, including CI/CD pipeline setup and development. Pranav is proficient in cloud platforms such as AWS, and is skilled in code review, documentation, and training teams on new technologies.
Pranav also has expertise in Vue, Angular, Python, Django/Flask, and JavaScript/TypeScript. Pranav’s recent work involves developing scalable web applications, building custom components, and improving user interfaces using modern web development practices.
Pranav earned his M.Sc. degree (2024) in Computer Science from Memorial University of Newfoundland, and holds a B.Eng. degree (2018) in Technology, Electronics, and Communication Engineering from SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Chennai, India.
Kyle is a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with nearly 30 years’ experience working in Electrical Power Systems. Kyle's technical and project management expertise in high-voltage transmission includes a wide variety of projects ranging from small scale capital and maintenance projects to management of a highly complex multi-billion-dollar transmission project, including ac voltages up to 735 kV and dc voltages at ±350 kV.
Kyle's experience includes all aspects of transmission system development, including concept analysis and selection, budget and schedule development and management, technical design (structures, foundations, equipment, and line routing and design) and management of engineering design activity and materials procurement, environmental assessment including public and stakeholder consultation, development and management of regulatory approval applications and reporting, construction management and commissioning.
Kyle has experience in management of terminal station expansion projects (air and gas insulated) up to 230 kV. Kyle also has experience in the operation of other forms of power generation technology, including remote prime power diesel systems, hydroelectric systems, and gas turbines, and is expanding his knowledge into wind turbines and other energy storage systems.
Kyle holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree (1995) in Civil Engineering from Memorial University and a Master of Engineering degree (2007), also from Memorial University, in Transmission System Structural Dynamics. Kyle is a registered professional engineer with PEGNL (Professional Engineers &Geoscientists Newfoundland and Labrador).
Kevin has over 28 years’ experience in the energy industry and has worked with large Oil & Gas and Energy companies. He obtained substantial technical, business and project experience related to oil and gas upstream and midstream assets located onshore Western Canada and offshore Eastern Canada. Kevin has strong skills in business planning and development, techno-economic analysis, project feasibility analysis, and early phase project development. From 2005 to 2019, Kevin worked in St. John’s with an offshore operator, in business planning for four years followed by ten years in the project pre-developments group. He focused on analyzing field development alternatives progressing through concept selection and subsequently to Final Investment Decisions on multi-billion-dollar projects.
Kevin holds a B.Sc. in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Alberta and an MBA from the Ivey Business School at theUniversity of Western Ontario. To complement his strong economic and financial analysis skills, Kevin earned the CFA Charter and is a member of the CFA Institute. Kevin is a member of SPE (Society of Petroleum Engineers) and he is a registered professional engineer with PEGNL (Professional Engineers & Geoscientists Newfoundland and Labrador).
Dr. Mike Paulin has over 35 years of experience in offshore and Arctic energy projects, with work spanning the Canadian East Coast, Canadian Arctic, Greenland, offshore Alaska, and Russia. His expertise includes innovative conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design of structures and pipelines for harsh environments. In 2001, he was a co-recipient of the Hart’s E&P Special Meritorious Award for Engineering Innovation for his work on the BP Alaska Northstar Subsea Pipeline—the world’s first Arctic offshore oil production pipeline.
Mike has led conceptual studies for major oil and gas producers evaluating proposed Alaskan pipelines, development scenarios offshore Greenland, Labrador, and Alaska, and technology strategies for addressing operational challenges. He has also managed engineering work in support of Canadian East Coast projects and led several offshore technology development initiatives.
In the new energy sector, Mike has directed preliminary design and contractor selection for a deep water intake and outfall system in Lake Ontario, and has led offshore wind feasibility studies. In 2022, he led a major study funded by the Government of Canada’s Emissions Reduction Fund titled Evaluating the Technical Feasibility of Wind Energy to Electrify Floating Oil and Gas Production Facilities Offshore Newfoundland and Labrador. This work included a regional survey on wind turbine fabrication, construction, and related capabilities to assess Atlantic Canada’s readiness.
Mike holds a Bachelor of Engineering (1988) in Naval Architectural Engineering, a Master of Engineering (1992) in Ocean Engineering, and a Ph.D. (1998) in Civil Engineering, all from Memorial University of Newfoundland. He is a registered professional engineer with PEGNL, and is also licensed in Alaska, New Jersey, and New York. Mike is an Adjunct Professor of Civil Engineering at Memorial University (volunteer), where he supervises and examines postgraduate research in offshore engineering topics.
Gary is a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with over 35 years of experience in civil engineering, power generation, and utility infrastructure. He has held senior leadership positions with Newfoundland Power, where he managed generation operations, corporate dam safety programs, and large-scale capital projects spanning hydroelectric, thermal, and transmission systems. His expertise covers project management, facility upgrades, and operational leadership across hydroelectric facilities and distribution networks.
Throughout his career, Gary has overseen the design, tendering, and execution of numerous civil, mechanical, and electrical projects, including hydroelectric plant upgrades, dam rehabilitation, and transmission line improvements. He has also directed corporate dam safety initiatives and public safety improvements around generation facilities, ensuring regulatory compliance and operational reliability.
Gary holds a Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology (1981) from the College of Trades and Technology, a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) degree (1989) from Memorial University, and a Master’s Certificate in Project Management (2001). He is a registered Professional Engineer with PEGNL (Professional Engineers & Geoscientists Newfoundland and Labrador).
Calvin (Cal) has 48years’ experience working on the geotechnical aspects of construction projects both as an investigator and construction manager. Cal’s technical expertise and broad experience on numerous construction projects includes all aspects of foundation investigations, slope stability, and geotechnical design recommendations. These projects include communications towers, mines both developing and shutting down, roadways, proposed wind farms, transmission lines, near shore marine infrastructure, and hydroelectric projects. Cal is a graduate of the College of the North Atlantic and Memorial University of Newfoundland. Cal is a registered professional geoscientist with PEGNL (Professional Engineers & Geoscientists Newfoundland and Labrador).
George is an experienced Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) and MBA graduate, specializing in strategic project evaluation. Holding a Mechanical Engineering degree (1978) from the Technical University of Nova Scotia and an MBA (1988) from the University of Western Ontario, he boasts 42 years of diverse experience.
During his 30-year tenure working with government agencies, George played a key role in forging partnerships, implementing business strategies, and securing over $200 million in project funding. During his one-year secondment with an ocean specific funding agency, George also successfully secured $15 million in financing for innovation projects. George's technical expertise in energy management spans decades, covering various sustainable projects. His contributions to the sector involved evaluating major innovation projects, mentoring clients, and negotiating agreements, showcasing a keen focus on alternate energy as an advisor to the Atlantic Energy Office Policy Committee. In his consulting engineer role, George managed projects for energy conservation, featuring innovative solutions like waste-water heat recovery and energy saving solutions. Currently supporting Angler-led decarbonization projects, George's wealth of experience, technical acumen, and strategic vision position him as a leader in advancing green energy initiatives.
James is a Senior Project Manager at Angler Solutions and a Professional Engineer with over 25 years of experience delivering complex onshore and offshore process industry and energy projects in Atlantic Canada and internationally. His career has been largely focused on Suncor Energy’s offshore developments, where he provided technical leadership and project stewardship across facilities engineering, subsea and topsides systems, and asset life-cycle management.
At Suncor Energy, James held senior engineering and specialist roles supporting offshore assets including Terra Nova and White Rose, working across mechanical, process, safety, and integrity disciplines. His experience includes greenfield and brownfield project management, life extension programs, subsea tie-back developments, facilities input to economic and development planning, assessment of asset decommissioning, and extensive engagement with regulators and certifying authorities.
James has led project scoping, design basis development, cost and schedule estimation, risk and process hazard assessments, and management of change for offshore producing assets. He has supported commissioning, start-up, operations, modification, and maintenance activities in harsh offshore environments, ensuring safe, compliant, and reliable asset performance.
At Angler Solutions, James provides senior project leadership across energy, offshore, and energy transition initiatives, supporting clients through concept development, execution planning, stakeholder coordination, and delivery. He brings an integrated approach that aligns technical, commercial, and regulatory considerations to advance complex energy projects.
Kevin is an Engineer-in-Training with experience in the energy industry and is a Project Engineer-in-Training with Angler Solutions. Kevin has worked in various project management roles, ranging from on-site construction and client representative work to renewable energy and marine settings. With a diverse skill set, Kevin has been previously involved in project planning, feasibility assessments, research and development, project logistics, and marine green transition studies. Kevin has recently supported activities related to a local Subsea Centre of Excellence, where he gained invaluable experience in project planning with subsea assets, project execution, and developing/maintaining project documents.
Kevin's previous experience also included various work terms involved in the global GHG reduction objectives, where he gained experience in energy and project development activities, project interface reporting, and research and development. Kevin has acquired a tangible amount of project management experience in his young career which can be deployed to have an immediate and positive impact in sectors such as renewable energy, new technology, and Oil and Gas. Emma is a Process Engineer-in-Training with Angler Solutions, who has recently completed her Bachelor of Engineering in Process Engineering through the Engineering Co-operative Education Program at Memorial University of Newfoundland (2025). During her degree, Emma completed two co-op placements with Angler Solutions, where she effectively contributed to the technical and operational aspects of energy and mineral resource projects. Additionally, Emma was involved with an early phase long duration energy storage project, a remote operations center development project, as well as a green iron production project.
Emma's practical experience is marked by analytical roles at Vale and Hatch, where she engaged in rigorous laboratory testing and the advancement of process optimization tools, respectively. Emma has been a part of multi-disciplinary teams for various projects including an extensive decarbonization study for offshore NL, digital twinning, as well as a local fabrication capability assessment. With a keen interest in the energy transition, Emma is poised to become a valuable asset in the engineering field, leveraging her diverse skills and experiences to contribute to innovative energy solutions.
Grace is an Energy Systems Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with a multidisciplinary background in Earth Sciences and a growing specialization in clean and integrated energy systems. At Angler Solutions, she works at the intersection of engineering and scientific research, supporting the transition to low-carbon and renewable energy solutions through energy system modeling and simulation (MESO), wind energy supply chain analysis, hybrid system use-case development, and technical work on energy storages, such as salt cavern compressed-air and pumped storage hydroelectricity.
With a strong foundation in subsurface geology and basin-scale analysis, Grace brings a rare systems-thinking perspective to renewable energy development. Her expertise spans seismic interpretation, petrophysics, and resource assessment across complex offshore basins, including the Jeanne d’Arc, Central Ridge, and Flemish Pass. This grounding in physical and spatial constraints enables her to approach clean energy projects with both technical rigor and practical realism.
Grace’s academic research on deepwater architectures and basin evolution reflects her commitment to scientific excellence and regional impact. She has also contributed to education and capacity-building through teaching, micro-scale analytical work, and cross-jurisdictional field experience.

Fatemeh is an Electrical Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T.) with expertise in renewable energy systems including solar PV, wind farm design, and hybrid power solutions. She recently completed her Master of Engineering (2025) in Electrical Engineering at Memorial University, where her research and publications focused on hybrid renewable-powered water treatment and desalination systems. Anna is an Energy Systems Engineer-In-Training with Angler Solutions. She holds a B.A.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering (with Distinction) from the University of British Columbia and a M.A.Sc. in Energy Systems Engineering from Memorial University of Newfoundland.
Anna has experience as an energy analyst and researcher in both academic and consulting environments. Anna has developed and tested models for wind, solar, hydro, and energy storage systems, with a strong background in techno-economic analysis, system simulation, and technical reporting. Her project experience includes pumped hydro feasibility studies and wind farm design initiatives.
At Angler, Anna is applying her expertise to advance renewable energy systems modeling and technical advisory projects, in addition to supporting the continued development of Angler's proprietary modelling platform, MESO.
Shatadru is an Energy Systems Engineering Intern at Angler Solutions with a background in electrical engineering, renewable energy systems, and applied energy research. She holds a Master of Engineering in Electrical Engineering with a concentration in renewable energy and is a registered Engineer-in-Training with PEGNL.
Shatadru has experience evaluating renewable energy integration for rural and remote communities in Newfoundland and Labrador, with a focus on reliable, cost-effective solutions that reduce fossil fuel use and emissions.
At Angler, Shatadru supports energy systems analysis and decarbonization studies, contributing to modelling, technical assessments, and project support across renewable and energy transition initiatives.
Hisam is an Energy Systems Engineering Intern at Angler Solutions with a strong graduate-level background in energy systems modelling, renewable energy integration, and decarbonization technologies. He holds a Master of Applied Science in Energy Systems Engineering from Memorial University of Newfoundland.

Haoming is a Software Developer with a strong focus on Machine Learning, Web/Application Development, and UI Design. His expertise spans a wide range of technical tools, including Python, Java, JavaScript, and C, which he leverages to drive impactful research and development projects.
Haoming’s recent work involves both frontend and backend development for an energy systems optimization model, demonstrating his capability in full-stack development. In addition, he has applied his skills in UI/UX design to deliver intuitive user experiences and has worked extensively with AWS cloud deployment optimization, ensuring scalable, efficient, and reliable application performance.
Ziad is a Software Developer (Co-op) at Angler Solutions and a Computer Engineering student at Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador (Class of 2027). He has a strong interest in full-stack software development, energy systems modelling, and applied problem-solving at the intersection of software and clean energy.
His experience includes designing and building production-ready, AI-enabled full-stack applications, with a focus on scalable backend systems, robust data handling, and intuitive user-driven interfaces. Derek is a Software Developer (Co-op) at Angler Solutions and a Computer Engineering student at Memorial University of Newfoundland (Class of 2027). He has hands-on experience in software engineering and applied data systems, with a focus on building reliable, production-ready software.
He has completed internships at Angler Solutions and Bluedrop ISM, where he contributed to the development, improvement, and deployment of software used in real-world environments. Nafiur is a Software Development Intern at Angler Solutions withprofessional experience in full-stack application development and cloud-basedsoftware systems. He is currently completing a Master of Science in ComputerScience at Memorial University of Newfoundland, building on a strong academicfoundation in software engineering and data-driven systems.
Prior to joining Angler, Nafiur worked in industry developing cross-platform applications and scalable backend services using modern frameworks and cloud infrastructure. His experience spans building RESTful APIs, designing and deploying serverless architectures on AWS, implementing CI/CD workflows, working with relational and NoSQL databases, and integrating third-party services such as notification services, payment gateways and authentication systems.
